They had the best time and it gave me the bit of a positively push I need to get through the rest of the work and school year 🥳

Saturday and Sunday downtime. Some online playdate Saturday and Sunday downtime. Some online playdates gaming with cousin and bestie, and sketching and singing and dancing and snuggling squishmallows. I worked today, finishing up a website so the week ahead is slightly more manageable, it’s a very busy one 🙈

Hope you had a great weekend xxx

Just a Christmas moment when we were both wearing Just a Christmas moment when we were both wearing Xmas themed outfits. Our girl started getting her exam marks back today (the 2 English and 2 Afrikaans ones) - two papers with 100% so far, along with an 88% and an 86% 🥰 she’s so happy and proud of herself (as are we obviously!) and she’s excited for the rest of the marks now ❤️ She seems to be shaking off the snots too which is a huge relief 🤞🏼
A less good day. Charly is fighting off a cold and A less good day. Charly is fighting off a cold and trying to keep focused, she’s tearful and missing her dad. I’ve worked super hard today with loads of frustration, but I think I got on top of it and tomorrow is just populating the website now that the design is mostly done. I’m also not feeling great this evening, but have taken some meds and hoping for a good night of sleep for all of us ❤️ tomorrow is her last study exam (Maths) and then only creative papers Friday and Monday and we’ve made it through. Fingers and toes crossed she makes it all the way without getting actual sick 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
This gorgeous crazy child of mine says she loves h This gorgeous crazy child of mine says she loves her “Hermione hair” (complements of some creative braiding I did the last two nights 🤣) I spend all my time trying to make mine smooth and sleek like hers and she wants giant floof hair like mine is naturally 😂

Yesterday’s Science and today’s English exams apparently went well. She says she is over prepared for geography tomorrow 🙄 Which is good because she’s not 100% herself. Brett is away for his annual company retreat until the end of the week (he left crazy early hours of this morning), and she hates when he isn’t home - a reminder of how covid changed our world, she barely remembers him working in an office and not from home (he’s worked from home since Feb 2020). To make up for it and distract her, my mama and best gran ever, moves in with us for the time he is away. We are also conscientiously ignoring the fact that Charly has been vaguely snotty since the weekend because being sick isn’t an option 😬

I hope your week is going well xxxx
Weekend overview ❤️ Charly spent Friday aftern Weekend overview ❤️ Charly spent Friday afternoon with my mom, my cousin and her daughter celebrating a good end to her first half-week of exams. I am on several year-end deadlines, so this time I couldn’t join. I wrapped up the biggest section of my work late Friday and was able to read and relax and get some cuddles from C at bedtime.

Saturday morning was a super early one (for us, we are late starters whenever we can be). We had to be up and ready to go (a much longer process for me with people clothes and makeup and people brain) and at the venue between 9 and 9:30. We were perfectly on time until some poor exhausted daddy (with a little one thank heavens in a rear facing car seat) went into the back of us. His car mostly hit my tow bar (and some of the boot) so it was in a bad state, ours has a small but deep dent on the boot, but everybody was unhurt and we couldn’t miss the gymnastics event because Charly is one of a very small team of 4 and we couldn’t let them down. We were very lucky to be able to stop, check that everybody was ok, exchange info and get back on the road within 15 minutes. I dropped Charly and Brett at the door and went on a lengthy drive to find parking, but she was there in time for her team to go on and she did beautifully. I wish I could share the videos but there are far too many other little kiddies in them. I only stopped shaking about an hour after we got home, around 4 hours after we were hit. The adrenaline gave me a monster headache, supported by the kind of loud happy music that gets adorable kids between the ages of 2 and 13 psyched. They really were amazing to watch, but for an introvert that mentally prepared for every outing, I was shattered. I slept from 2-5 while C studied, ate, read my book a bit, snuggled Charly to sleep relieved we were all ok and went back to sleep until 10 this morning.

Today was a study day for Charly, she went through all her study subject for the week. She writes Science tomorrow, then English, Geography, Maths 2, and another science on Friday. I got some Maths revision together for her for Wednesday afternoon, then did my reporting and invoicing for November so I can fully focus on work.
